I'm Adeildo. I grew up in a small town on the coast of Alagoas, found my way into math and code through olympiads, and now I build software in São Paulo. This is how I got from one to the other.

Born in Cabo§
I was born in Cabo de Santo Agostinho, on the south coast of Pernambuco.
My father, Adeildo Juvenal da Silva, was the head chef of a restaurant on Calhetas beach, the one called Bar do Artur today. Roberto Carlos invited him to cook on one of his cruises, and he once presented a dish on Fantástico, TV Globo’s Sunday night show.

Back to Coruripe§
My father died when I was two. My mom, Rita Santana da Silva, went back to Coruripe, Alagoas, the town she is from, and took me with her, down the coast road.
That is where I grew up.

Olympiads§
I went to a public school, the Escola Municipal de Educação Básica Liege Gama Rocha. Around fifth grade I started doing math olympiads, and for the first time being curious about math got me something I could hold in my hand.
- OBMEP 2018
- Honorable mention.
- OBMEP 2019
- Bronze medal.
- OBMEP 2020
- Nothing. The pandemic cancelled that year’s edition.
- OBMEP 2021
- Silver medal.
- Canguru de Matemática
- A few gold medals along the way.

Every Saturday, to Maceió§
The medals came with a seat in OBMEP’s junior scientific initiation program, the PIC. So every Saturday I took the bus to Maceió, the capital, for classes with UFAL professors and undergraduates who trained us for the olympiads, and then took the bus back home.
Years before moving there, I already knew that road by heart.

A laptop, and code§
The PIC paid a small scholarship. With that money and some help from my mom, I bought my first computer:
felipe@ideapad
- Model
- Lenovo IdeaPad S145
- Memory
- 8 GB
- Disk
- 500 GB HDD
- Paid with
- olympiad scholarship + mom
With school on pause, I started writing code. My first scripts downloaded the online courses I had bought, so they would live on my own disk instead of on someone else’s platform. One platform became two, then a dozen:

A bug report to Rio§
At the end of middle school, IMPA’s website went down after a power outage. When it came back up, it had security flaws.
I found them. Professor Krerley Oliveira, from UFAL, put me in touch with IMPA, in Rio de Janeiro, so I could report them. The report went to Rio and I stayed home. Then he offered me a scholarship to study in Maceió.

The choice§
I had two options for high school:
- the Federal Institute of Alagoas, the safe and expected path
- a scholarship in Maceió, something nobody from my region had done
I took the risk. I moved to Maceió on my own and rented a place, living on a scholarship from Gilza de Melo, a wonderful lady who backs students like me. To rent without anyone asking whether I was old enough to sign a lease, I lied about my age.

Everything at once§
In Maceió I had five processes running in parallel:
- high schoolColégio Fantástico, three exams a week on Sistema Etapa material
- UFALundergraduate and master's courses in math and computing
- LED-UFALprojects at the statistics and data science lab, coordinated by Krerley
- freelancebuilding applications for clients
- olympiadsgold at OBA, bronze at OBI, silver at ONC
At UFAL I took courses like linear algebra, calculus, real analysis, data structures, machine learning and natural language processing.

Summers away§
Summer breaks were for traveling. In January 2024 I was at the first edition of SigmaCamp Brasil, in Valinhos. It was a week of STEM taught entirely in English, with 60 students and professors from universities like MIT, Yale and Stanford.
I also took summer courses at USP, in São Paulo, and at FGV EMAp and IMPA, in Rio de Janeiro.

A bot for a dengue epidemic§
In 2024, during a dengue epidemic, the epidemiological center of Florianópolis had thousands of blood tests to classify, for dengue and chikungunya.
I built a bot for it. It scraped their internal databases, identified each patient, and classified them with the result of their exam. The hospital and the local health secretary honored me for it, with a certificate I’m still very proud of.

Six courses in Rio§
I had just finished high school and I was in Rio de Janeiro, taking six master’s-level summer courses at FGV EMAp.
In the same season I got into FGV’s undergraduate program, with a scholarship.

São Paulo§
I turned FGV down and went to study Computer Science at Insper, in São Paulo, because I wanted to build companies. Insper gave me a full, non-repayable scholarship. I paid nothing, and Insper also paid me to study and support myself.
I spent that year at hackathons and foundation programs, and joined two communities:
- Behring Scholars
- Fundação Behring backs young Brazilians in technology through college.
- Líderes Estudar
- Fundação Estudar’s leadership program, running since 1991. I’m on the tech track.

Now§
I’m a co-founder and the founding engineer of Ranqia. We build intelligence and media infrastructure that lets brands shape what mainstream LLMs say about them. When someone asks an AI what to buy, the goal is for the right product to come up on its own.
I also collaborate, from São Paulo, with LABORA at FGV EMAp, a lab for mathematical modeling in epidemiology led by Professor Guilherme Tegoni Goedert.
And I’m building this site.
